WIE Serve Day

Welcome to the What If Everyone Spring 2019 Serve Day at Mosaic – this is one of our favorite days of the year. Saturday, May 4th is about being a voice of hope to the people in our community who need it most, and working as a team with a clear strategy to make the biggest impact! Join us for a citywide Serve Day as we collect donations, volunteer at area non-profits, and actively show love to our Charlotte community.

Acts of Kindness

Help us show some love to our city through various Acts of Kindness, such as providing flowers to an assisted living center, handing out bottles of water, giving out quarters at local laundromats and more.  We will have 2 locations: Plaza Midwood and Northlake area.

Bags of Hope Packing Party – Currently Full

We will be collecting food items for our ongoing Bags of Hope program. Volunteers will sort through the food donations and pack bags.

Bags of Hope Warehouse Spruce Up – Currently Full

Bags of Hope LKN provides for children with food insecurity at 12 schools in the Lake Norman/North Charlotte area. We will be doing some spring cleaning and sprucing up the main warehouse.

Details – 10am -12pm at the Bags of Hope LKN Warehouse, 18535 Old Statesville Rd, Unit H, Cornelius.

Blood Drive

Give the gift of life! Sign up to donate blood at the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas Blood Mobile during one of our morning services at both campuses on Sunday, May 5th. Please sign up prior to Sunday morning. Visit cbcc.us for more information.

Details – May 5th, 10am-1pm at the North Campus, 10am-1pm at Metro Campus. *Must be 18+ years old or 16+ with parental consent.

Caterpillar Ministries (CM) Family Fun Day – Currently Full

CM partners with the Huntington Green community in Huntersville to provide educational, spiritual and mentoring programs to more than 450 children and adults. We will host a Mother’s Day event for the community, including crafts for the kids, food and pampering for moms.

Charlotte Family Housing (CFH) Book Drive – Currently Full

We will collect books for the summer reading program at CFH. The goal is to collect 200 books for babies through high school age. On May 4th, we will need a team of volunteers to sort through the books, organize by age level, and take them to CFH.

Fire Station Goodie Baskets

This is a great family friendly volunteer opportunity! We will collect (bake or buy) items to put together in baskets to then take to local fire stations to show our thanks for all their hard work! We will have 2 groups for the Northlake area and Metro area.

Details – North 10am-12pm, starting at the Hope Center, then visiting Fire Stations around the area. Metro 10am-12pm, starting at the Metro Campus, then visiting Fire Stations around the area.

Foster Village – Currently Full

Foster Village supports the children, foster families, kinship families, and/or biological families by creating a village of support during their time of crisis. Volunteers will be providing childcare for an event.

Habitat for Humanity Painting – Currently Full

Volunteers will do interior painting for a new Habitat House (5930 Milhaven Lane, Charlotte, NC 28269).

Details – 8am-11:30am. Age Requirement: All Habitat Charlotte volunteers must be 16 years or older to participate.

Midwood Mania

This is Plaza Midwood’s welcome to warmer weather and the beginning of the outdoor festival season with live music, food, parade, local merchants and fun activities for the kids. Volunteers will staff a Metro table and hand out Mosaic swag!

Details – 11am-7pm (shifts), Midwood Park, 2100 Wilhelmia Ave, Charlotte, family friendly.

Street Soccer 658

The nation’s first year-round, life-skills based soccer program for refugees and those experiencing homelessness. Volunteers will prepare and serve lunches to the players and interact with them. Spanish speaking is a plus.

The Forgotten Initiative – Currently Full

(TFI) resources and supports the foster care community through service projects, mentoring and family support initiatives. We will be collecting items for Journey Bags, which are backpacks filled with essential items to get kids started when they first go into foster care. Many times these kids don’t own anything, so these are helpful so that they have some necessities to start with. Volunteers will pack age/gender specific backpacks.

Winding Springs Elementary Garden Spruce Up

Winding Springs Elementary School is a Title 1 school that Mosaic has partnered with to serve the staff and teachers. We will help spruce up their garden area.

Details – 10am-2pm, at WSE, 6601 Horace Mann Rd, Charlotte.

Winding Springs Elementary Teacher Appreciation May 4th – Currently Full

Winding Springs Elementary School is a Title 1 school that Mosaic has partnered with to serve the staff and teachers. We will pack popcorn grab bags for the teachers.

Winding Springs Elementary Teacher Appreciation May 10th

As part of Teacher Appreciation Week, we will serve a hot meal to the staff on Friday, May 10th.

Details – May 10, 8:30am-2pm (shifts), at WSE, 6601 Horace Mann Rd, Charlotte, family friendly.
