Naeem Fazal is the founding pastor of Mosaic Church. He is a Pakistani, born and raised as a Muslim in Kuwait. He came to the United States in 1992 after the Gulf War. That same year, Naeem had a supernatural experience with Christ that changed the course of his life. He graduated from the College of Charleston in 1998 and joined the pastoral staff of Seacoast Church where he led several ministries. In 2006, with the help of Seacoast Church and ARC, he planted Mosaic Church in Charlotte, NC. He is the author of Ex-Muslim and often speaks at conferences, churches and events. He and his wife Ashley have two amazing children, Asher and Nurah, and unfortunately three cats.
Mike Smith is our Executive Pastor. He oversees the business administration of the church as well as volunteers and our men’s ministry. He and his wife, Jennifer, are empty nesters! Their daughter, Caroline, is a graduate of North Greenville University and their son, Andrew, currently attends Western Carolina. Mike spends his newly found free time doing construction projects around his house.
Kristin Young is our Experience Pastor. She oversees creating environments that make people feel special from your first visit through becoming a Mosaic Maker. She is also on the teaching team. She and her husband, Peter, love family movie nights with their daughters, Marlee and Margot. Kristin is an excellent girl mom because she is often found playing dress-up in her own closet.
Ashley Fazal is our Community Pastor. She works to equip our community and serve our city through local and global outreach, small groups and our youth ministry. She and Pastor Naeem enjoy eating sushi and watching superhero movies with their teenagers, Asher and Nurah. Ashley is also our unofficial resource librarian because she loves reading and always has a resource to share.
Drew Gonzalez is our production intern. He leads the team of volunteers who create, capture and communicate Mosaic experiences. He is a sneakerhead and loves making art of all sorts. Drew has combined his love of fashion and creativity to create the brand SLMN LN.
Ben Wood is our Worship Coordinator. He leads our musicians and vocalists in creating environments that help people hear from God. Ben grew up in Wales and has dual citizenship in the UK and Australia. He and his wife, Leilani, have 2 (about to be 3) children who all bring their own creativity to Mosaic.

Quenisha Boyd is one of our m.Kids hosts. As a self-described big kid, she brings a lot of joy and excitement to our families. "Miss Q" has years of experience working with children in ministry and as a coordinator at Promise. Quenisha stays busy dancing, modeling and trying out new experiences.
Kehaulani Backes is one of our m.Kids Hosts. She and her husband, Ian, have been part of Mosaic since 2014 and they co-lead a small group for parents of young kids. She loves listening to her son, Caleb, tell jokes when she isn't running half-marathons across the country.
Silueta Gaspar is one of our m.Kids Hosts. As an occupational therapist, she shares her expertise to ensure m.Kids is accessible for all of our diverse kids and visitors.
Ariane is one of our trustees, providing insight and speaking wisdom into our finances. She has been attending and serving at Mosaic since 2016. Ariane is a senior director of marketing and is currently working on hr MBA at the University of NC. She loves spoiling her dog Twix, traveling internationally and bringing her Puerto Rican flair to monthly lunch club with her friends.
Sheldon is one of our trustees, providing insight and speaking wisdom into our finances. He has been attending Mosaic since 2016 with his wife, Mai, and their daughters, Micah and Noah. Sheldon has worked in a variety of fields with a focus on promoting diversity and inclusion. He started a financial literacy group that coaches thousands of individuals on various personal finance topics. He loves to travel the world with his family and is a strong Duke fan, despite being surrounded by misguided Carolina fans.
Josh is one of our trustees, providing insight and speaking wisdom into our finances. He is the founder of Ekos, a software company here in Charlotte. He and his wife, Lindsay, have been attending Mosaic since 2011. They enjoy taking family trips to Disney with their 3 children.
